Who We Are

The Southern Ledger is recognized as one of the Southeast’s premier news and cultural websites. Our purpose is to inform readers of current events in the Southeast U.S. and beyond, to expand awareness of a broad range of issues important regionally and globally, and to provide a spectrum of interesting articles to enrich the lives of curious individuals who desire to explore cultural issues.

Covering topics such as Business, Government, Sports, Culture, Arts, Entertainment, and Religion, The Southern Ledger seeks to provide in-depth writing relevant to residents of the South and to those interested observers of life in the South, as well as comprehensive articles from Southern journalists and featured writers.

We also feature two online magazines, Sissy’s Life and Gardens and Southern Writers. Sissy’s Life and Gardens highlights the best of life and gardens in the South, including travel, historic preservation, living in the South as a Southerner (and non-Southerner), and gardening and landscaping. Southern Writers is focused on southern literature and features fictional writing, as well as interviews and book reviews.

The Southern Ledger and all subsidiaries are owned by Magnolia Media LLC, a family owned business, distinctive from many of the newspapers in the Southeastern U.S. that are corporately owned.  The Southern Ledger offers a fresh approach, unmanipulated and truly independent.
